A major area of this form of monitoring involves discussion of various reports and other information provided. Committees may submit proposed resolutions to the National Assembly on setting down measures and duties relating to government accountability. Each standing committee must form a sub-committee to monitor the implementation of laws and their impact on society and the economy. Committees conduct hearings of ministerial candidates before they are appointed and hold annual hearings where ministers provide an account of their performance. Upon a motion backed by two-fifths of their members, committees also hear ministers and the heads of central institutions of public administration.
