Hungary holds the presidency of the Council of the EU for the second time between 1 July 2024 and 31 December 2024. During this period the priorities of the Hungarian presidency are the following:

• New European Competitiveness Deal.
• The reinforcement of European defence policy.
• A consistent and merit-based enlargement policy.
• Stemming illegal migration.
• Shaping the future of cohesion policy.
• A farmer-oriented agricultural policy.
• Addressing demographic challenges.
