European Union politicians in the House of Parliament: the Plenary Meeting of the COSAC to start soon

The series of parliamentary events linked to the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2024 continues with the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union, the LXXII Plenary Meeting of the COSAC. Zoltán Tessely, Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the Hungarian National Assembly will be the host of the event to be organised in Budapest on 27-29 October 2024. The meeting will be opened by László Kövér, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, followed by a presentation on the Hungarian presidency programme and results already achieved by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the first session.
The participating members of parliaments will exchange views on the state of the European Union in the year of institutional transition and will also commemorate the 15-year application of the Treaty of Lisbon. Related to this topic Barna Pál Zsigmond, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of European Union Affairs, Sven Simon, Chair of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs of the European Parliament and Alessandro Giglio Vigna, Chairman of the EU Policies Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies will deliver keynote speeches. European demographic trends and responses at national and European level will be also discussed and the audience will hear about the views of the European Commission and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation of Hungary. In the framework of the fourth session, the European security and defence Esteban González Pons, Vice-President of the European Parliament and Péter Sztáray, State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade will give introductory speeches.
