Current EU economic policy issues at the third interparliamentary conference

In the framework of the parliamentary cooperation of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2024, the Hungarian National Assembly organise the Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the EU (SECG) on 3-4 October 2024. More than 200 people are expected to participate at the event which will be attended by delegations of representatives from European national parliaments and the European Parliament; as well as representatives from EU candidate countries and from other invited countries will also be present as observers.

 

Erik Bánki, Chair of the Committee on Economics, Zoltán Tessely, Chair of the Committee on European Affairs and Zoltán Vajda, Chair of the Committee on the Budget of the Hungarian National Assembly will co-host the conference in Budapest. János Latorcai, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly will hold the welcoming address of the event and afterwards the Members of Parliaments will discuss three topics: 1) The competitive advantages of the emergence of electric cars in the European Union and the required preparations for decision-making; 2) The reform of the economic governance framework; 3) The impact of the EU budget for cohesion policy on the multiannual financial framework. The position of the Hungarian Presidency-in-Office of the Council of the EU on these issues will be presented by keynote speakers Tibor Navracsics, Minister for Public Administration and Regional Development, Péter Benő Banai, State Secretary for Public Finances of the Ministry of Finance and by Máté Lóga, State Secretary for Economic Strategy, Financial Resources and Macroeconomic Analysis of the Ministry of the National Economy.
